Editors note: This is exactly how the interview went via myspace, hope you guys enjoy.

Sweet, well I want to do a few just ordinary/generic question like:
Name, age, hometown?
Cory Meadows is my name i am from Lafayette, Louisiana.

How long have you shot pics?
I have been shooting for almost a year now.

What is your weapon(camera) of choice?
My weapon for digital is a Pentax k10d. When i shoot film i use a vivitar3800n. If and when i shoot medium format i use a Seagull and Holga.

Click for pictorial

What got you started on photography?

I don't really know what made me buy my first camera but i did and it was probably one if the best moves i have ever made.

So which came first the newspaper job or shooting photo?
I had already been shooting film for a couple of months when my friend asked me if i wanted to shoot for the newspaper. This was january 08 so that's when i finally bought into digital and got my Pentax and made me take my photography more seriously.

What kind of subjects/type photo (portraits, action stuff, landscapes, abandon buildings, etc) do you usually shoot and whats your fav?
I try to shoot everything i don't like just shooting one particular thing, but i guess i like shooting music the most because that is where some of my best work comes from and i like things that are intense and i like to catch that intensity on frames. I express myself through the pictures i take and i care if people like my work but i usually shoot for myself and i want to say thank you to anyone that has liked any of my pictures.

<img "style="width: 400px" src="http://www.tbcparty.com/storage/2622363748_5229a05338.jpg?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1217975618517"/>
Click for Flickr

Anybody you look up to as far as photographers?
I don't really have anyone i look up to in photography, i do enjoy Keith Ramonouski and Walter P's work. They are sick. Lately I have been living to shoot. It has been keeping me going for the last month or so. I love this shit!

Well I guess that wraps it up. If ya got anything you would like to add or take out I'm down for whatever.
thanks a bunch,
There used to be an abandoned movie theater near the North Gates of LSU which became a legal graffiti wall. It was a pretty interesting place; artists, homeless people, truckers, students and just plain crazies hung out there at all hours of the night. I got into graffiti for a little while and one of the first people I saw out there was Clark. He definitely stood out. He's a tall, lanky, animated dude that had a really unique style of painting. Instead of doing the normal letter based graf he was painting huge robots that were pretty detailed and extremely original.

Over the last few years I have had the chance to hang out with Clark on several occasions and every time is a treat. He's a hilarious guy with plenty of stories to tell. He's been bouncing back and forth from BR to Vermont for the last few years, and right now he's in town (for a little while at least). Lately he's been working on a joint art show with Wylie Sofia Garcia titled "He Said/ She Said". The show opens up this Friday night at Plus1 Gallery. Jon and I had a chance to stop by and see what those two were up to. Here's a little video about the preparation for the show.
Brock Michael Gomez, just turned 25, born in Luling, LA; been in Baton Rouge since the summer of 2000

How many years have you been riding?
I always rode around with the neighborhood kids and stuff but I never got too into it. Then I started racing in the summer of 1995 and that was pretty much it.

pic: erik s.

So people may or may not know that you have filmed, edited, and contributed to several different bmx projects. When did you first start filmmaking?

I always wanted to do video work from watching bike videos so I signed up for a TV Production class for my senior year in high school. Turned out the teacher for the class wound up quitting over the summer and we didn't have any teacher for the class. We just messed around the entire year and I didn't learn anything at all. Then Fat Tony started filming for a BMX video sometime around 2001. He did the majority of the filming for it , then I broke my ankle and couldn't ride for the summer. I wound up going through all the footage and putting together the majority of what would become "Chronicles". I guess that was like 4 years ago.

Have you always been interested in the filming side of things or did it just kind of happen?
Pretty much since I saw "American Muscle" I knew I wanted to make bike videos in some form. I really wanted to learn about video stuff in high school but that never worked out. I guess I was sort of forced into it cause I couldn't ride and I was going to lose my mind if I didn't do something.

Could you list some of the videos you have made or been a part of?

Starting with the LouisianaBMX video "Chronicles", various LouisianaBMX web videos, the Savage South full-length videos, Savage South Video Catalog, Savage South part in Props, Props MegaTour 6, Props Rock and Roll Tour 2 and various web videos.

How is being hired to film verses filming for fun?
I actually like being "hired" to film because I know it is going to be used for something and I don't get too distracted because I am working for someone else. I don't really film for fun too much anymore- I usually have something in mind for the end product. It's really fun to film just random stuff though. Lil Pat jumping through Louis Simmons' living room window was probably the best thing I've ever filmed. That was definitely filming for fun.

pic:fat/ridebmx

Who all have you done work for?
I've done work for myself and my friend's various projects, but recently I've done a couple of things for Props which has been really cool. I've also done some stuff for VitalBMX.com, Red Bull and some stuff for FBM since Micky got picked up for the flow team.

What equipment do you use ordinarily?

I have a Sony VX2100 which is a really good all-around camera. I use a Century Optics fisheye, NRG Varalux light with battery belt, lots of batteries, a Toy Machine deck with really big wheels to film lines on.

What is your favorite bmx /skate video?

I really like Walter Pieringer's "Time Well Spent"- the filming is really good, super good colors and a consistent theme that wasn't too over the top. Since Etnies "Grounded" came out that's pretty much taken the cake. That video raised the bar a good bit and I think we'll be seeing a lot of stuff from that video carry over to videos in the future.

Do you ever look at films outside of action sports for inspiration? And if so, could you name one and how it influenced you?

Lately every time I watch TV or a movie I analyze it. I was at Voodoo Fest this weekend and if I wasn't really into the music I just watched the screen to see how the filming and directing was taking place. It gets a little annoying at times though, kind of like when you are a bike rider and you can't look at anything around you without thinking of riding.

old pic:fat/louisianabmx.com

Do you have any interest to do filmmaking outside of bmx?

Yeah I think about it all the time. Documentaries are really interesting to me and I have a couple of ideas for them but I don't have the time for them. I also don't have any experience making them so I am a little hesitant to jump right into that. I have toyed around with the idea of going to film school but I haven't really looked into it too seriously.

How does filming affect your riding?

It makes my riding suck. On Props trips its pretty much a rule that filmers don't ride (if I get hurt and can't film that really screws stuff up) so that counts me out for riding for a week-and-a-half. I also get to see crazy riding on those trips which makes me basically want to quit. Then when the weather is good at home I usually go out and film with other people instead of riding. I've also been trying to skateboard a little bit more so I am more comfortable filming on a board so that cuts out the riding even more. One good side of it is that I really do enjoy riding when I get the time to put the camera down and ride.

pic: crandal/fbmsite
How do you feel about web videos and how flooded the internet seems to be?

I guess its a catch-22. On one hand people get to see a bunch of riding from all over the world for free and riders/filmers get to put there stuff out there for everyone. On the other hand I think it sucks that people are trying to put out really good, professional videos and kids are posting them on the Internet. I also get tired of seeing the same old stuff on web-videos. I think it's a problem that can be solved. I look at things like what Etnies is doing (the book that comes with the DVD) and how Props is trying to do online pre-releases and that gives me hope. I think it will force video producers to think a little harder to market something that people will buy. It sucks for me right now though because I'd like to make a career out of selling a product that people may not ever want to buy.

Any current projects you would like to share?

There are always ideas in the works but nothing too serious right now. I had a really good idea for a theme for a Baton Rouge video last night and that got some wheels turning in my head. I've been talking to Chris Mahaffey from Nashville about the future of his [sic] Media Productions and that's looking pretty promising. He's getting the first issue duplicated right now which is really good news. There are always the web videos too.

Thanks?
First off my parents for being really supportive and just all around good people, Fat Tony for helping me out in the various ways over the years, Brad Jensen for being a good influence and a role model, Micky Marshall for killing it in the Props/bmxonline video (that really helped me out with the Props situation), Louis and Geoff at Savage South, Marco, Chris, Stew and Walter at Props, Flip and all the guys from Albe's for making my first filming trip awesome, all the guys in the neighborhood for doing things over when I mess up the filming, all the guys at Dirt Road, Mid City and Capital bike shops, all the filmers for the various Savage South projects (Beck, Chris Wade, Nathan Pocus and Robby Capps), my girlfriend Grace for putting up with my traveling, and everyone else that I ride, film, drink and hang out with. And Jon for giving me the chance to talk about what's been going on.

jomopro jam for vital bmx
click for their myspace page.

First off, who are the members and what are the instruments they play?Trey plays guitar, Tyler plays bass, Alex does vocals, Kory plays guitar, and Casey plays blast beats
Home town? Laffy Taffy town
Years of playing? As the current line up with the new drummer about 8 months, but me tyler alex and kory have been playing in random bands together for about 2 years or so
How would you describe your sound? metal with a good ol' southern feel
What are you guys infuences? we play what we like to play but mostly listen to rap thats why we have dope beats
I know you guys are young, so whats average age? um well lets see kory is 18, alex is 21, tyler and i are 20 and casey is 17(he just got his braces off)
So do you guys do other creative things outside of the band? BMX bruhhhh, and tyler does alot of graphic design work for us as well as a bunch of other bands. Casey sits on his phone all day and kory and alex cut grass
Is lil' Jeff the official merch dude or roadie? Lil jeff is the official bitch, just kidding we love him (groupie)

lill jeff(not the roadie?)
How often do you guys tour? our first time touring was this past summer and it was amazing and we plan on recording in december at earthsound studios and then head back on the road this coming summer. we were going to tour in december but hey we can't pass up savage south right?
What is the farthest or just weirdest place so far? farthest place was this small town in Pennsylvania, I forgot the name of it but that place was weird. It was nothing but a bunch of gutter punks that got mad because us and this one other band got paid so there girlsfriends got mad and took a shit on the bathroom floor and threw it all over the walls, it was crazy. we did manage to "find" about 4 instrument cables and 2 pairs of drum sticks that show though haha
Do you guys play in Baton Rouge often and what venue usually? The dark room (that place is weird)? Actually we hardly play in Baton Rouge the only venue to play our type of music is the darkroom and that place is really sketchy. We have done house shows around that area before which were really fun.
Do you guys have any endorsments like Nike,Fender,RockaWear, or maybe Gillette? ummmm no haa
What do you guys mostly eat on tour? RAMEN! and kory enjoys ravioli cold and straight from the can
Ok this one confuses me, New era hats and tight tapered jeans. How do you guys feel? depends, i wear them both and like them alot. look at erik that boy sports em every day. now the skateboarders who wear that stuff with big over sized t-shirts looks really funny.<stong>I agree.</stong>

Man, why are you guys all really nice and completely postive every time I see you? It's quite refreshing. most people in bands are assholes and think they are better than everyone else, we stay as positive as possible all the time and talk to every single person that will ask us a question or try and start a conversation. plus i think your really cute jon
So who all rides in the band? I heard you guys originally skated? me, tyler, and casey all ride. alex rode for about a week, now his bike collects dust and he wont sell it to me. tyler and i used to skateboard a whole bunch before we moved to lafayette and started college then we just got busy.

Tyler
Are you guys Bucknutty locals? nooope. honestly i dont like that place one bit the only reason i go is because i feel bad for ooti when he tries to round everyone up to go and nobody wants to so we are like hey buddy ill be your friend and go haha
Do you guys ever play house partys or backyards? we actually just played a really huge house party last night in the middle of nowhere and it was amazing. so many cool people, it was a really fun time. these guys were dancing and two dudes ran into each other because it was really dark outside and this one guys got a tooth stuck in his fore head it was awesome

Has anyone ever sported a mustache in the band? alex sported a good mustache for a while in kentucky and kory had crazy chops the whole second leg of the tour but was a baby and shaved em when he got home
What's the weirdest thing you guys have witnessed at a show? prob those girls throwing their crap all over the wall that was just insane
Are there show hoes?(I guess that would be the same as a groupie) haha we will keep that one to ourselves but yes there are show hoes. in florida me and tyler were lucky enough to get flashed by this one chick with big breats in the middle of the bar, pretty sweet
How did you guys meet Ooti and how does he affect your performance? i believe we met him at school, and all ooti does for the band is ask if he can get into shows free and for free t shirts, he pisses us off more than anything hahaha but we love you ooti

the ooti with out an e
Alright back to the subject, do you have any albums or ep's available? we have a 5 song ep out right now for 5 bucks you can get at any one of our shows
Well i'm about out of questions but here's my last one, can I use one of your songs for a TBC video? I'll totally give you guys credit and info? that would be sweeeeeet
