A good friend of mine forwarded this video to me earlier today and I was PUMPED! This is the first "real" bike video I have ever seen, circa 1997 (I think). I spent too many afternoons at my friend Blake's house watching the VHS copy he had getting pumped up to go to the trails across the street from his house. Seriously brings back some crazy memories. Funny to think how things have changed.

At the time of this video Schwinn had one of the best teams in BMX. Their racing team was incredible with the Foster brothers and Tim Strilecki, and their freestyle program was insane. Jay Miron has always been a BEAST, and Joey Garcia was taking true street riding to a different level. Also, Brian Foster was suspended from racing for a while so he proceeded to kick everyone's ass in dirt jumping contests that were held at all the big National races.

Things went downhill pretty quickly for Schwinn after that. They were sold to Pacific and put in big box stores around the country. It was crazy to see such an established and respected brand go to shit so quickly. However, this video is proof of Schwinn's dominance of the late 90s BMX scene.
I thought this was a pretty amazing video. It seemed really challenging from a technical stance but it came out really well. If you look it up on YouTube you can watch it in HD. It looks a lot better there.
Terry's full-length edit of "Dreams" will be premiering this weekend in Alexandria. The video dropped a while back on DVD, but after more shooting and editing a full-length version is complete. I got to take a look at the additional footage in the program and it is amazing. Mickey Gaidos was behind the camera and computer, and like all of his work it is insanely good. If you are anywhere around Alexandria go check out this event.
"It’s always refreshing to see BMXers who are completely disconnected from what’s going on in the mainstream. I mean this in the best way possible. When you see these guys ride, you know that they aren’t thinking about how many negative comments their line would get had it been filmed and uploaded to a popular website, or just how light and brakeless they can make their bike. Their motivation to ride hasn’t changed since the first time they bunnyhopped down a curb, and their enjoyment remains unchanged.

Taking this sentiment to the extreme is Chris Nance. A shrimper by day, BMXer by night, Chris epitomized this carefree, positive attitude. Maybe almost too much. When someone mentioned he resembled Van Homan, Chris replied, “who?” What’s more, this dude rides in his shrimpin’ boots!!! I’ll be honest, the first time I caught a glimpse of him at Rampage in New Orleans, my initial thought wasn’t, ‘Man, I bet the guy in the knee waders and camo outfit can blast some downside whips 5 feet out of the quarter.’ As it turns out, first impressions can be very misleading…

I hope Chris is doing ok in light of the cluster-fuck going on down in the gulf. As long as he has a working bike and skatepark, I’m sure he’ll be just fine."

Caught this little gem on facebook. Edit has a really good vibe, tons of awesome riding from a bunch of different spots. Good mix of burly and tech, street and ramps. Brian Yeagle is a beast, and everyone's favorite BMX/self-destroyer Dave Thompson is in there too.
